Manufacturing plant relocation

We move plants for a living.

Whole factories, single production lines, everything between. Decommission, rig out, crate, haul, store, rig in, level, pipe, wire, start up — one contractor, one contract, one schedule. Never missed a startup in 25 years.

Someone who has moved a plant contacts you the same day, whatever the size, and gets the number started. Big scopes take real planning — we will tell you exactly what yours needs.

The relocation sequence, run by one contractor.

A factory relocation is won or lost in the sequencing. This is the sequence.

  1. Decommission & match-mark. Lines powered down in order, utilities disconnected by our own electricians and pipefitters, every connection match-marked and documented so reassembly is reading, not archaeology. Controls demolition and rewiring on relocations is our own trade, not a sub.
  2. Rig out, crate & load. Machines to 118,000 lb move by single-lift pick-and-carry; heavier pieces ride engineered rigging systems rated past 400,000 lb. Export crates are built and ISPM-15 stamped in-house; every piece is logged against the machine list.
  3. Transport & storage. Routes, permits and delivery windows coordinated against the reinstall sequence — and when the destination floor isn’t ready, dry indoor storage and secure outdoor laydown hold the line, received on our own equipment.
  4. Rig in, reconnect & start up. Set, shimmed, leveled and aligned by the same millwrights; piped and wired by the same trades that disconnected it; started up on the schedule the production plan agreed to. That is the startup we have never missed.

Factory relocation is ten trades working as one.

The move is the visible part. The startup on the other end is the part that pays.

A production line relocation touches every trade Accuwright carries: riggers to lift it, machinery movers to walk it out, crating and transport to get it there, storage when the new floor isn’t ready, millwrights to set and align it, pipefitters and electricians to reconnect it, and one plan holding the sequence together. Because those crews are on our own payroll and self-perform the core work, the schedule has one owner — and the gaps where relocations usually die never open. When the new site needs more than reconnection — a platform, guarding, a piping run, a panel — the fabrication, industrial mechanical and electrical crews are the same phone number.

Representative, not exhaustive — a relocation scope is built around your line, not a menu.

Arrival day — machines coming off the trailer, on schedule, into the sequence.

The move is judged on restart day.

Nobody relocates a plant for fun; there is a customer order waiting on the other end. So the plan runs backward from restart: what must run first, what can follow, which machines ride together, what gets crated for storage and what goes straight to its anchors. Downtime is contained by sequencing — a line keeps producing at the old site while its replacement footprint is prepared at the new one, and the last machine to stop is the first machine to run.

That is also why relocation customers care about one line on our record more than any other: never missed a startup in 25 years. Always delivered as promised — it is the sentence a plant engineer repeats to their boss to justify the vendor.

The record a relocation bets on.

A plant move is a bet on the contractor’s schedule. Here is the betting form.

  • Never missed a startup in 25 yearsAlways delivered as promised
  • Every trade under one contractRiggers, millwrights, pipefitters and electricians on our own payroll, self-performing the core work
  • EMR 0.72NCCI interstate rating — zero actual incurred losses

Industrial plant relocation, coast to coast and across borders.

Home ground is the Southern Industrial Corridor — South Carolina to Texas, run from two shops: Greenville, Georgia and Fort Worth, Texas. Beyond it, crews, machines and lowboys mobilize from two shops — the same logistics we sell — coast to coast and from Mexico to Canada. When we quote the North, the Northeast and the West Coast, we win work. Test us against your locals.

Crossing a border? We handle international dismantle, export crating and container loading — crates built and stamped in-house under our ISPM-15 certification, machines wrapped and loaded for ocean or air freight. A relocation that ends at a port is still one contract.

Tell us about the move.

Machine list, weights, both addresses, the window you have to work inside — whatever you know today is enough to start. A person who has moved plants contacts you the same day, and we will tell you up front whether yours is a days quote or a weeks quote.

Manufacturing plant relocation, explained.

Do you handle the whole relocation or just the rigging?

The whole scope, under one contract: decommissioning, dismantle, match-marking, crating, transport, storage, reinstallation, leveling, reconnection and startup support. Riggers, millwrights, pipefitters and electricians are on Accuwright’s own payroll, and our crews self-perform the core work — the schedule has one owner.

Can you relocate a single production line instead of a whole plant?

Yes — production line relocation is the most common version of this work. Line down, machines out in sequence, floor space handed back, line up and running at the destination. The same planning discipline applies at any size.

What does a plant relocation cost?

The honest answer: it prices from the machine list. Count, weights and dimensions, distance, access at both ends, how much disconnect and reconnect the scope carries, and the window you have to work inside. Send the list — even partial — and a person who prices these starts the number the same day, and tells you whether yours is a days quote or a weeks quote.

How do you keep our downtime short?

Sequencing. The plan runs backward from restart: production continues at the old site while the new floor is prepared, machines move in the order the restart needs them, and the last machine to stop is the first to run. Downtime becomes a planned window per line, not a blackout for the whole plant.

Who disconnects and reconnects the utilities?

Our own trades. Electricians handle power, controls demolition and rewiring on relocations; pipefitters handle process and utility piping. Match-marked at teardown, documented, and reconnected by the same people at the destination — which is exactly the handoff that fails when a mover subs it out.

What about international moves?

We handle international dismantle, export crating and container loading — crates built and stamped in-house under our ISPM-15 certification, machines wrapped and loaded for ocean or air freight. Coast to coast and from Mexico to Canada, and beyond it, ask.

The new building isn’t ready. Can you hold the equipment?

Yes — dry indoor storage and secure outdoor laydown, received on our own machines, redelivered piece by piece as the floor comes ready. Storage is part of the relocation plan, not a last-minute workaround. See heavy equipment storage.

Do you do plant decommissioning without a move?

Yes. Plant decommissioning and dismantle stands on its own: lines powered down, machines dismantled and crated for sale, storage or export, and the floor handed back broom-clean. The same match-marking discipline applies — the next owner of that equipment will reassemble from our documentation.

How far will you travel for a relocation?

Anywhere the plant is. Home ground is the Southern Industrial Corridor from two shops in Georgia and Texas — and when we quote the North, the Northeast and the West Coast, we win work. Test us against your locals.
